Starting a thread for my holiday captures in France, staying with my Sister near Chartres in the Eure et Loire region for a week.
Nipped out for a quick walk at 8am this morning, didn't get much, as I had my posse following me..gif "Smile")

LOL, no they are my sister's, what you see above is the small Posse, it can rise to three cats and two Yorkies.

I tried the videos, but it may be the connection here, although it is broadband, it is not very fast.

They work perfectly for me and on my own site two. I would think you do need a faily fast conection for movies.
Do the other's on the site work or is it just mune? The one you put up fore me woks perfectly too.

PS. BTW I put the videos up on you tube for private viewing. Would that be the problem . They work perfectly on my PC but not on a friends.

I have seen a few orange tip butterflies today, but was without the camera, we've just had torrential rain, but it seems to be short lived, looks like another lovely day tomorrow.
Oh that is a shame. The weather is very warm here. Hope it brightens up there.
Whitethroat
Caught this little chap after hearing its song.

Had to move the tripod to allow this chap past, I'm not too sure whether the birds in the crop will be too happy.

When looked at closely, this is a pretty plant.

Long Tailed Tit
This little chap turned up in the ancient apple tree as i was photographing it, so thought I'd get some pics, also managed to record his song.
That's a youngster isn;'t it. Not much pink on him. They are my favorite of the little birds
Could be Chocky, would have thought that it was a little early though.
Here are some of the first swallow arrival.
Could be a bit early I'm not sure which are males and female so I could be mistaking females for youngsters.
The swallow shots are excwllent. Very hard to captrue here
Common Lizard
There were a pair of them in this tile stack, plus several little ones, they were a little too quick for me to catch though.

You have outsmarted me. I just cannot capture these little birds, their colour is so soft they seam to blend with the background here and so there is no sharp line round them if you sort of know what I mea and they always look blurred,but hey I'm going to camcord them , a movie should come out sharper. I much prefer still shots though
Juvenile Redstart
Sorry about the quality, have a listen to the audio clip, they have a strange bit in the middle of the song which sounds like white noise.
Those are lovely captures Rolf. The sound does have a some thing in the middle. I think Robinds do a similar thing as well. Like a sort of crackle
Red Legged Partridge
Just outside Ollé on the road to Bayeau Le Pin, this one was by the side of the road, but wasn't too keen on me taking a photo, caught him as he was about to make off on his toes.
Pied wagtail
This chap was sat on the roof of a barn near the roadside again near Ollé, unfortunately was again a victim of the misty weather, but shows what a handsome bird he is.
Tried everything to get pictures over the field
Even tried putting a ladder on the van and my tripod on the roof to see above the oilseed rape, but not a bird in site. Last year I managed to get a few shots, but only with the small lens, so was hoping for better luck, unfortunately not to be though.

Are birds protected in France?
Not really, the hunting fraternity is much bigger in France, but then the country is bigger.
