    Unhappy Baby Bank Vole

The ginger cat at the end of the road had captured a baby Bank Vole and was playing with it, so the little girls who were near there called me.

I lifted up the terrified little creature and took it home to leave near the Bank Vole's run in the garden.

It has possibly been injured by the cat, and, if it was bitten or scratched, any wounds (unseen) may be infected and it may not survive.

However, I wasn't going to leave it lying there to be a cat's 'toy' again, so put it down near food and water to give it a chance of fending for itself.

It nibbled at some sunflower seeds, so at least that's a good sign!

Great shame that cats hunt these little creatures, hopefully it'll recover catherine, well done for helping.

It's cats' nature, Rolf. I'm not a cat fan, but I understand that.

I suffer an allergy to cats, so that doesn't help - and that pretty little ginger cat seems to think I like it!

It seldom comes near our garden, so, as long as the little thing stays here, it should have a chance!

I don't mind cats, but as soon as they set foot in my garden they are the enemy and I will deter them in every humane way I can.

LOL, well normally it involves opening the back door and hissing at them, they don't tend to like that, but then I don't like them using the borders as a toilet either, so I guess we are even.

Oh, poor little thing . Fingers crossed! I am the same - I always hope that it won't have been damaged and like to give it a chance.
As for the ginger cat - the reason it likes you is that you don't stare at it the way a cat-lover would - staring is a threatening/power action, so it feels comfortable with you. Start staring at it if it gets anywhere near you!
