Default Northen Wheatear - Oenanthe oenanthe

About 4 or 5 pairs of these little birds landed in a field and were all standing like Meerkats because a buzzard was sitting in a tree close by calling. It was rather amusing to watch as some of them nearly fell over backwards as they pead over the top of the grass.
They are lovely little birds to watch and stand till for quite a while if startled or alerted. I noticed also that one would keep watch (in tern) whilst the others would feed.

Thanks Louise I'm really pleased as they are on the move and I have never seen them before. I didn't think they came this way.
They all just suddenly landed in the field from nowhere

Nice one Beryl, passing by on their way to Africa, so you may get a few more in the next week or so.

There seems to be a lot of change in nature with the whole climate issue, so expect all sorts of stuff you don't normally see
