Well done Pete

Well done with the Goldeneye Beryl......when do you expect to arrive in Lancaster for the party?
Pete.
Lol. Thanks Pete
Before the party, solve this ?
Looks like a very blurred Linnet Cris. Carduelis cannabina.
Party this weekend? Have a good one.
Yes Rolf it is a : Hämpling Carduelis cannabina
Fast as usual
A Sunday special for You
Song Thrush - Turdus philomelos ?
If not it's a Mistle Thrush - Turdus viscivorus
Could be a Pipit as well, Rock Pipit perhaps? Anthus petrosus
Yes I thought of a Pipit but his dot are to prominent .
Having said that you could be right
Yes 'pipit' Rolf but no time to guess at the moment so might 'lose' this one.
Pete.
Well, it is not a rock
Tree Pipit - Anthus trivialis ?
No, it is not a tree either
An outside bet here, How about an Olive-backed Pipit Anthus Hodgsoni (yunnanensis) not a particularly common Swedish visitor I would imagine. It does have the facial characteristics of your picture though.
Sibirisk piplärka Anthus hodgsoni
Seen somr reports that this bird is seen rather often. Times are a changing even for an Siberian bird
Nice found Rolf
A new way to present a bird
Whooper Swan - Cygnus cygnus ?
Could be a bewick Swan - Cygnus columbianus
In Sweden we call it a singing swan
Sångsvan Cygnus cygnus
but I never heard one singing I must confess
Nice picture was it not ?
Well done Chocky
Yes . Very nice. Lovely. Swans are beautiful birds
Here is a new fresh question for You
Ahh, I know this one, it's a Water Rail, Rallus aquaticus, very difficult to photograph, here's my only attempt.
Nice one. Have never seen one these. Well done Rolf
Yours was a little bit blurred
but still it was a : Vattenrall Rallus aquaticus
So, what do we see here ??
Only one thing that can be, orangy brown body with black tale, Ruddy Shelduck Tadorna ferruginea.
Yes but of course a very good looking bird I say
Rostand Tadorna ferruginea
Yheuy are lovely.
The photo won't expand for me so I can't see it
Here is a new question: What is this ??
Double-crested Cormorant- Phalacrocorax auritus ?
Last edited by Chocky; 11-02-2009 at 10:09 PM. Reason: Spelling
Well, almost
Double Brasted Cormorant - Phalacrocorax lucidus ?
Close but not close enough
Could be just your bog standard Cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo, well if you can call a bird standard which looks like it doesn't belong in this epoch.
Well, this is a special breed but still accepted
Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis
Before I leave for Riga I offer this question
It´s rather easy I think
