These 3 hoverflies kept in this holding pattern for a while (e.g these [particular shots were 3 mins apart).... although they had a couple of near-misses!

Very good, looks like a little queue jostling going on in the second shot though.
They must be foreign if they dont queue politely.
They MUST be british hoverflies, or they wouldn't have started a queue in the first place! :lol:

I remember how surprising it was when I was in Germany - NO-ONE crossed the road if the lights were against them, however clear the road was, but as soon as the bus arrived, the neat lines disappeared and it was every man for himself (I saw an old lady almost knocked over once!). Very weird :-)

'Tis true, we hate it to queue up, but our "system" works never the less. Probably because we watch eachothers body language and act accordingly. Though there will always be the "stubborn" ones which may cause an accident. Using the underground/bus daily I have to say I have never witnessed an accident not even a early accident. Which of course does not mean that it doesn't happen.
Admittedly, we are talking 1983 when I experienced this on a daily basis, but I have regularly heard people say the same thing since then. There really was no 'body-language' watching when I lived there.. but then that could have been the 1980s or the fact that it was in the Black Forest that made them act like that
