captured in the local park , this male was hammering away at a tree trunk and wood chippings were flying every where . In my video that I'll upload later you can see the clippings flying about and hear the noise he was making.
The middle image is brilliant Beryl. Question here though is......have you - or has anyone - seen a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker recently if ever.
Yet another difficult bird to find these days. Don't know the history on this one but do know there ain't any round our way.

No I have never seen a Lesser Spotted woodpecker. There are some around .

Thanks for the RSPB link Beryl which I will take a look at tomorrow, running out of time again this evening.
By the way, like the use of the 'latin' names for the contributions of your birds......nice one Beryl. If you submit anything for the 'cream' of ornithological magazines (British Birds) they would reject it simply because it didn't have the latin name added to its common name. So good practice for when you send them something off.
