Dartford Warbler at Keyhaven
These are Glen's pics, as I saw it move from bush to bush, but always to behind something, just out of my view.
Keyhaven was lovely in the sunshine - very warm and with no wind at all!
(The bird was only about 15 feet away from us, but it was difficult to focus on without a tripod and as the bird kept darting here and there!)
What a beautiful little bird Catherine, longer beak than I'd imagined as well.Like number four the best.
It looks almost black - until you see that red eye! That seems to be a male, the female seeming more brownish on the back.
The breast colour is lovely, not brash red or orange, but the colour of crushed raspberries.
I was surprised at the length of the beak as well - and the fact that the top bill seemed to curve downwards slightly
A stunning-looking bird, and my sort of colours (I'm sitting here with a pair of black fingerless gloves on - you can take the girl our of the Goth costume but you can't take the Goth costume out of the girl...). The colouring is very unusual.
I didn't know of this bird, but it really is a little beauty - and well caught by Glen.

It didn't stay in the same spot for long, so Glen just ran off some continuous shots.
