This bird was along way across the estuary slightly bigger than a Cormorant I think. It was so far out it was difficult to tel.
How ever I'm baffled as I can't find it in anyof my books and I don't think it is a Lapwing.

Well if it was slightly bigger than a Cormorant, that would certainly rule out a Lapwing, but it doean't look like one anyway.
Looked through the Raptors and it could well be one, but I can't place the markings.
About an hour earlier some one said a lap wing was around but it just doesn't have a Lapwing's head or tail
It was/is also a very sunny day and light can play a big part.
There was only one and three peeps said they had seen the Osprey in the area only minutes before but it doesn't look like an Osprey.
It could also be a migrant they are beginning to arrive. There are hundreds of Wigeon now
Some one may know .
Here is a few more pics of is turning. Appears to be white under but the sun can play trick . Most strange . too big for a pigeon Though

Silly me of course it is it's got that torpedo look.
I thought all the Swallows had gone back so it didn't cross my mind.

You threw me a bit, as I was thinking bigger than a Cormorant.
Well I was photographing every thing that flew along the estuary and that's a lot . Most were ducks and a cormorant and some crows and you don't know what is what until you put them up on the screen and I had taken about 400 photos
