Yes the females are a dull Yellow where the males are bright orange.
I have yet to see a Firecrest.
I haven't seen one either, Beryl, but remember one year when car loads of 'twitchers' armed with scopes, cameras and tripods arrived at Greenan Catle (near where we stayed before) in response to a report of a sighting there!
