Sorry the picture is a little lacking in definition, I think I need to clean my windows.

LOL, dead easy to spot, I looked out of the window because birds were leaving in all directions and I wondered what the commotion was, just a shame my window needed a clean inside, as it has put a haze on the photo.

    Brilliant, Rolf!

'Lacking in definition'? Maybe I shouldn't post some pics I do then......?

Sparrowhawks don't hang around - so I think you've got some really great shots there!

As Beryl says, he's a beautiful specimen!

I had to play with it a little (well quite a lot) to get the contrast up Catherine, as the dirty window (oh the shame of it. ) had put a haze over the photo. The real shame was that he was in a cracking spot within easy view, but I had just closed the window and opening it would have scared him off.

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Even so rolf, you have managed to capture amazing details and the colours are spot on. I expect this suprise visitor may now become a regular visitor....................and you may just find enough time to clean your windows before he returns

Well he's obviously a regular visitor, just caught him as he was passing through this morning, snatched the photo quickly, so a tad blurred, it isn't your eyesight.
