    Default Black Redstart

Bit of a scarce one. I found this bird on 23 March 2005 at Fluke Hall on the Fylde Coast. I think Andy will know this location.

Not prepared to zoom in on this one any more as the image becomes unacceptably distorted

    Pete.

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Well spotted Pete, had you heard reports of this bird being there before you visited? I have never heard of or seen one before now

    Many thanks for your comments.

No Babs, nobody had any idea this bird was lurking here that day until I found it. This is one of a 'few' examples I have had over the years of never knowing whats around the corner in birding and this creature was the perfect example of this and is the sort of thing which has contributed to my birding becoming the passion it is today.

I'll pass on my motto to you......Not what you will see but rather what you might the element of surprise never fails to delight.

    Pete.
