The race was red flagged after a monsoon downpour flooded the track. Whilst the race was stopped the cameras were struggling to find things to look at, and at one point were looking at this critter sitting on one of the kerbs
LOL, yes been watching it, I'm sure Catherine will have seen it as well. Lovely birds.
Of course I did - and took some pics of it and what looked like Kittiwakes as well!
Mind you, it's not the first time birds of the feathered variety have taken to the F1 track in the rain. I remember this little Owl at Brazil in 2009!
The most amazing sights were at a Cart or IRL race in America once though - with a Great White Egret, Gulls, a Pelican and others enjoying the ponds created by the rain!
I took these pics from the screen - not as good as Ross's, but the sequence tells a sort of story!
At first, he was having a bath on the DRS activation line - brave bird! Then he moved further along the track, rather wary of the unaccustomed attention!
It is one of the North American 'signature species' and known by everyone there. The female is dull brown in colour.

The Gull, which looked like a large Kittiwake, seems to have been a Black-tailed Gull - Black-tailed Gull - Whatbird.com
(Jenson was just 10th there - but ended up the winner after the two hour gap in racing!)
That was the only bird watching I did yesterday as it was equally wet here - and didn't even stop at all!
Don't think I watched the one with the Little Owl, he looks a bit miserable.
All 4 species look miserable!
I just looked at that Redwinged Blackbird link (Thanks, Catherine), and the female is pretty darned good-looking for the dull brown member of the species.
