The bottom fell out of a box my brother was carrying downstairs and my 20d fell down the stairs
It "works" but now has a CF card error whatever the CF card used.
Typical as well with the weather looking so good for photography...
That's a bit of a drag Mark, perhaps it's just the card compartment door giving the error reading.
I'm not sure. The CF pins don't look bent and the door seems OK. How does the door work (the camera doesn't do anthing with the door open)?
Not sure on your camera, but on mine it will flag up as being open.
My VERY basic Canon had the same sort of 'adventure', Mark - with the same problem afterwards. We found that the card was needing pushed further in its slot as it had jumped out when the camera fell. I hope the solution for yours will be as simple!
I've "adjusted" a few slightly bent CF prongs with a Japanese kitchen knife but it's made no difference (after doing all the battery out stuff listed on talkphotography). The card seems to slide in all the way (the release pops out).
It's going off to Lehmann's for a quote but as I'm sure it'll be more than half it's value I'm getting another 20D and will stick the broken one on fleabay.
A couple of times today I thought "I'll just get my camera and come back to take a few pics" and then thought "bugger!"...
Try Luton Camera centre as well Mark, they were very helpful when I spoke to them about one of my cameras..gif "Smile")
