we have been very lucky over the last few years, here in preston.
we have been blessed with several waxwing visits.
one location is less than a ten minute stroll from my front door.(stocks road)
this is a small side street off a busy, local shopping area. it is lined with berry laden trees. waxwings, ranging in numbers anywhere between one lone bird, upto ten plus, have appeared in early new year.
they have to be one of the most stunning birds, and are one of my favourites.
there are usually a couple of mistle thrushes about who bully the waxwings for the berries.
another noteable site is in blackburn. this a favoured carpark on weir street. here i have counted 122 birds in one go..... brilliant!!
if it carries on as mild as it has been, we might not see them this time though.
