Black-tailed Godwit- Scolopacidae

I went to the Exe estuary this morning 5-11-07
The weather was very dull and a little dark. How ever there were hundreds of birds there and I managed to follow this lone Black-tailed Godwit.
He performed very nicely for me He flew a little way past then stopped and then flew back again.
I think he was showing off to me

these are really good i.d. pictures. they show everything you should look for when trying to identify a black tailed godwit as opposed to a bar tailed. they show the white wing bars, the legs protruding beyond the tail and of course the black tailband. the bar tailed would not have wing bars, it has shorter legs and of course has a barred tail. nice shots
