Starling - Sturnus vulgaris

Although you wouldn't describe a Starling as bashful, even for a Starling this bird was quite unafraid. I was waiting for a bus near the large supermarket (where they spend a lot of time, due to its proximity to MacDonalds), and this chappy landed within 3 or 4 feet (I had to move back because of the lens size!), and then he flew into the covered stop (it's quite long for a bus stop and covered both sides) to get at the stuff on the floor.
He had no issues at all, and in fact it was because he was so unafraid that he flew too close and so I couldn't get him in flight. But I did still manage to get a reasonable shot of its beautiful feathers. It does also show the gunk on its beak though

Certainly not shy retiring birds at Savacentre, I had one perch on my van wing mirror one day and if I hadn't made a blocking movement with my arm, the little devil was going to fly in and nick one of my chips.

Yep, was sat there grabbing some lunch with the window open and the little devil was perched on my wing mirror watching me, suddenly he made a swooping move through the side window, but changed his mind when I moved my arm upwards.

they can certainly recognise a big mac and fries when they see one.
