Brambling is my Guess, Maybe someone can recognize them better for me ?

I agree with Rolf, Vastra. They certainly look like Linnets to me!

I don't know either of the birds very well, but taking a good look, I think I agree. The reason for that is the pale marks around the eye and it does look like there is a red patch on the forehead as well as the chest - both of which are present in Linnets, but not the Brambling. As I said, I don't really know the birds and am only saying this from staring at a few pictures of the 2 birds
