..bits of old grass from the garden apologies to Max Bygraves and his song "Tulips from Amsterdam". Sorry about the light on the Robin - everytime I tried to get the sun behind me he flew off.

All the birds obviously think it's spring as the Sparrows are fixing the nests, the Robin in almost deafening... and there is a generally high level of bird noise (with constant bird-shaped shadows as all sorts fly over). The insects are all out too (well, the midges and flies and stuff like that). Yep, they definitely think it's spring!

Those House Sparrows are REALLY early! I hope the weather keeps mild for them as there will be few insects around for their hatchlings otherwise.

Maybe you need to invest in some mealies, Louise?

A Great Tit has been (shouting) his repetitive 'song' here since the snow left a few days ago.

Yes, they are terribly early Catherine. I think the warm weather and enormous number of flying insects has confused them .
I won't be growing 'mealies', too much work (and a nuisance cat to ruin all the good work), but I do have dried ones which can either go out as is, or can be rehydrated... well, they ARE suburban birds, so should be used to some 'ready meals' If not, well they'll just have to do with fat balls
