Willow warbler

There is one particular tree at Cernay which is filled with flying insects, this in turn attracts the warblers, both Willow warblers and Chiffchaffs.

I managed to get the better shots of what I think is a Willow warbler, but I do find them very confusing.

The third photo is not very clear, but shows the bird exploring the flowers on the tree for insects.

Willow Warbler given away (mainly but with other features) by its pale legs Rolf. The bird is in its autumn colours which are illustrated to good effect in your centre image which is a particularly good one and the one I like the best.

Yes, put a lot of time in for a definitive confirmation, have got a couple of the Chiffchaffs from the same tree, but they were less obliging.

Hey rolf, fabulous images here, lovely and sharp. This is one of the birds I have not had the pleasure of photographing. The only difference I know about the willow warbler and the chiffchaff is the chiffchaff has black legs

Yes they were Paul, very difficult to focus, there were more in than out, but got a few successes.

They are very good. Would like a 500mm lense myself. Will most likely get a 2x teleconverter more in my price range

I wouldn't go for a 2x, you lose too many stops, my 1.4x is a good compromise and it would turn your 300mm to a near 500 lens.
