In general terms I know all about these things Rolf but in the case of these particular images why have they resulted in two different colours.

One was with the flash partially firing Pete, didn't play with it much, will adjust the colour balance when I get a chance.
Yes. They are beautiful captures Rolf. I only see Brimstone Moths on the estuary.
The species has a complex ecology: sometimes one brood is produced each year but sometimes three broods are produced over a two-year period, with the result that adults can be seen on the wing at any time from April to October This would alow for the variatin in colur I would thnk
Just adjusted the colour on the second one, should be more like natural.
Have seen a lot of these around this year - mostly just during this past week.
I hope that the frost we had last night didn't affect them!
They're so lovely- and quite big for early Butterflies!

Thanks Catherine, should have really used my tripod, as my hand shakes too much for macro, but they show enough detail for good recognition.
