Angry at a rival and rather windswept. The wind wasn't cold but just blowing a Hooley.
The last photo shows his cheek feather blown forward . Most amusing.

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Lovely captures Beryl, yes I like the one where the feathers are out of place. I think I have only seen the rock pipit and that was in Scotland..............I best go and find some meadows

Thank you Babs. It does look funny. I couldn't get the two together. They flew of having a go at each other but much too fast.

Another of the many thousands of birds moving into our country for the breeding season Beryl. I watched at least 200 in a field the other day and saw at least another 150 fly through the view of my binoculars in no more than seven minutes.

If you are in the right place at the right time during the migration period this is not unusual and of course is an annual occurrence.

    Pete.

These seam to be here all the time along the estuary and a couple of pairs along the brook in the local park

You are right Beryl they are here all the time, but this is one of the more intersting things about the birds, some only 'winter' here, some only 'summer' here, some a greater number migrate, whilst some of the same species remain in this country all year round like the Meadow Pipit as you say.

    Pete.
