Sort of flying - and coming to a rapid stop

I'll never know what type of bird this was, but it was quite a big one. I suspect it was of those giant pigeons that visit my garden quite often. Good news though - it lived to lay another egg as I could not find any birds underneath that window. We left that "image" on the window for weeks and weeks, and it was amazing how many details you could see, head feathers and feet. Must have been quite a dusty bird

That certainly is a clear imprint T, haven't had one quite as clear as that, it looks like a Wood Pigeon or similar.

An amazing imprint as Rolf has said. They often simply stun themselves when they collide with windows. On the other hand there are often fatal results.

Yes, there are things to put in your windows to prevent this kind of accident and they seen to be very effective by all accounts as you have indicated Rolf.
