News from the RSPB site
Reports of seabird breeding performance on a number of RSPB Scotland coastal reserves indicate continuing problems for internationally-important seabird colonies.
It has been a horrendous year weatherwise for our family up north in Ayr - an incredible amount of rain, fierce storms during the breeding season and lower temperatures than normal throughout the spring and summer spell.
I note they don't mention breeding success/otherwise on the island of Ailsa Craig which the RSPB manages as a reserve on which Gannets, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Guillemots and a few Puffins usually breed. I must check the results for there.
Certainly not looking good.
