Are they the ones which make you itch if you touch them?

Symptoms range from itchy skin irritation to sinus allergies with itchy eyes and a runny nose

I remember as a kid that there was a population explosion of an itch-making caterpillar (There were loads around the school boundary hedge), I don't which, but I assume this one. Since then I am always very wary of any caterpillar that has hairs. Just think it's safer to not tough them!
I don't often touch a caterpillar I usually use a leaf if I find one on the pavement and then transport it with the leaf to a tree or such like
I try to use leaves or sticks to move anything. Not because I am squeamish, but I just think it's more natural. Also, sometimes they get a bit skittish and can run up your arm and up your sleeve if you're not careful!
Yes and I think our hands must feel like burning coals too. But one needs to watch out for Salmoneller and such like. I know terapins carry it, Not that they even resemble caterpliiars. But well you know
