    These youngsters were just about to settle down after preening and have a nap when a train tooted bu and off they went

    yes . After looking at every duck in the world. I suddenly thought they look remarkably like Shelducks. The chocolate brown on the back that gave it away

    Yes they are . The male will grow a large nodule on his beak/forehead when and adult but yes they are very lovely birds.
