    Default The new 'Queen Elizabeth'

The 'Queen Elizabeth' leaves Southampton as I write, a great new liner in the tradition of earlier 'Queens'. About the same length and width as the much beloved QE2, she is none-the-less taller and with a greater 'stack' of cabins, etc. on her hull. She is still smaller than her sister ship (and Cunard flagship), 'Queen Mary 2' though - and I have to admit that, from my point of view, she lacks the elegant proportions of that larger lady!

Although she may resemble the fairly recent 'Queen Victoria' from the outside, her interior is apparently much more grand - having been designed in Art Deco style.

These photos were taken on Friday from Hythe Marina.

Yes, certainly an impressive vessel, shame it couldn't have been built in the UK.
