Monster Squirrel
Not a good shot (so I've kept it small), but I just can't get over how chunky this chap is (MUST be a chap - he's huge). What I can't explain to you is how far away this was, up a very, very tall tree. If it weren't for the fact that I can see it's a squirrel on close-up I really wouldn't have thought it were one - it looked too big to be a normal cat, even.

Yep, sure is a chunky chappie.
I think you may find it is a female in Kitten .We have masses of squirrels her in the Plantation walk and the females are very big like that when pregnant.
Having said that I could be wrong .

I see what you mean about being pregnant - but it is also very long - generally big (not just chunky).

Clearing out my photos I came across the set I took for this shot. It turns out that there were 2 of them!! I assume that it was male and female hanging around their drey.
It was very, very high up and I had only spotted the movement and snapped where I thought the movement was (I didn't even know that it was a squirrel, although assumed so... that's why the quality is so bad
Not Necessarily. They are extremely territorial and will fight like any thing and chase each other to exhaustion if one infringes another territory

On Plantation Walk here they have to cull them every so often as it gets over run These Squirrels take nuts from you fingers they are so tame
see mr and mrs chan at lavell lake, look skinny worringly skinny but saying that if there didnt jump around so much im sure they wouldnt look that way!!

Well, the squirrels I normally see aren't half as solid as this, so may be enough for a whole match
