    most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28

    Default egyptian grasshopper

    i took this picture in malta last april. it was a monster sized grasshopper, around three inches in length. i thought up until recently that it was a locust.
    i was surfing the net, in a bid to identify it properly, when i found out that it was an egyptian grasshopper. they are found around europe and mediterranean regions. there have been several reports of them turning up in britain. a few live specimens have turned up wrapped in pre- packed salad dishes, obtained in a very well known supermarket. imagine opening your salad to find one of these smiling back at you!!! ...yuk

    The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

    Yes it's a great shot andy with nice detail and thanks for sharing, I can't remember ever seeing one in Egypt but I did have a pray mantis on a sheet on my washing line in africa had to wait for greg to come home to shoo it off I don't think one would bother me now but it did then
