This little chap stayed long enough for three shots two were almost the same so have uploaded front and side. It doesn't look a bit like the meadow Pipit I captured previously but I'm no expert and birds seam to change colour with the seasons.
Need to read up a little more on Pipits, this is one I saw in my friend's back garden, managed to press the button before the camera focused properly.
I think that both yours and mine are Meadow Pipits, the lower flanks streaks seem to maintain their width.
That looks like the meadow Pipit Rolf
Looking at the others I have uploaded which in my book don't look like any of them it has to be a meadow Pipit my RSPB book shows the meadow Pipit much darker and I am fastly going off the book It doesn't seam to show any of the correct colours. I have a feeling this is the female Meadow Pipit. It is much more chubbyer but has the same markings.
Look at the pale marking round the eye
Have a look here http://www.digital-nature-photograph...pit-photos.php
Thanks for that link Chocky, what a nice site, will put it in the links section.
Oh good. I'm glad about that
It does help. It also show the variations of one little bird
I believe what you have here is a female or more probably, a juvenile stonechat. The head markings and rusty coloured breast in your first picture certainly point to this plus the head shape in the second makes me 99.9% sure.
wildgoose
Yes the first post is a female Stonechat. I didn't realize at the time. Sorry about that
