Default Tour of Britain Cycle Race

Reading hits the high life today and it starts off the first leg of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race. It started on one side of the town where there is a velodrome, passed through the centre and then turned south to head towards Burghfield where the race started properly... to head towards Southampton.

Anyway, it passed just near me so I was out with the camera. Since they weren't actually racing it was very quick as they were all in one big group, not competing. Basically it was blink and you miss it all. We were out there for half an hour to witness about 1.5 minutes of cycling - and there were as many police motorcyclists throughout that time as there were cyclists!

OH well. looks like i didn't miss a lot then.

Had a play with one of the photos using photoshop and applying a little selective Gaussian blur, it isolates the group a little. Hope you don't mind.

Nope not at all. I posted them quickly without really looking at them hard let alone fiddling since it was news, and news has a short 'sell-by date', but isolating them is a good idea.

Unfortunately an old chap went by half an hour before in all the gear, but I didn't have the camera out - that would have just completed it THere were a small number of us out there and I got chatting with a chap who was a cycling fan so it was entertaining enough just chatting to him.
