    Default Cinnabar moth

    First I have seen this year. The red patches on the wings are warning to predators. They are very distasteful to birds The caterpillar is jet black with yellow bars

    Yes, they are a very striking moth, but don't look too tasty.

    They are and in fact poisonous but not to birds
