The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

    Default A question for you!

Hubby is in the process of building a Dove Cote and we have been discussing the door size. Any ideas about the correct size to make the doorways. We are hoping the Collard Doves will use it.
    Thanks

Not really sure, I guess that 3" would do, perhaps by 4" tall, there a few here and here which you can scale off of.

Thanks rolf, more about the size Greg said but I just thought it looked a little small.........we have Doves just resting around the feeders during the day so we thought it would be nice for them to use..............hope they use it.......less chance of them becoming the Sparrowhawks next meal...............thanks for the link as well

Well here is the finished Dove Cote. Hope you like it. We won't know until the weekend whether the collared dove have taken an interest in it. At the moment they like to sit on the rotary washing line

Thanks, Greg loves working with wood, he's good at bird boxes too...........I'm sure he could stretch to a kennel.
he has made a nuthatch nest box recently and is going to put that up somewhere. I saw the nuthatch again on Sunday while I was doing the feeders and he landed close by and then flew off.

I did try to rent out the Dove Cote to my son and his girlfriend but they were having none of it
