    Default Cattle Egret

I managed to capture some Cattle Egrets . Having never seen them before and these birds are not aquatic. They live on insects disturbed by the hooves of Cattle and freshly ploughed fields. They also eat frogs reptiles and mice
These are in their winter coats , in the summer they have buff coloured breasts and the back of the head is also buff.

Nice video of what is still a relatively rare bird over on our Islands Chocky, let's hope they decide to become resident here.

    Thank you Rolf.
So far no one knows if they have bred. Have looked around the sites. The field here had quite a few, averaging 51 cm long and weighing 200-600 g
They usually migrate back Africa after the winter
