White Plume Moth - Pterophorus pentadactyla

ANNOYED!!! I spotted this snow-white creature in the garden and ran inside to grab my old camera (it's best for macro), and was relieved to find the moth was still there.
I got grass up my nose and everything, trying to catch it

I have never sen one before but then when I looked it up it's because the caterpillars live on bindweed, and since last year I've been overwhelmed with bindweed. In fact I was out there trying to get rid of it when he flew in.

Now here comes the annoying bit - when I rushed upstairs to upload the piccies I realised that the camera had reverted to the basic quality setting and had only taken them at aboout 380kb !!!! so this is the best I can offer you

Good photo nonetheless Louise, things like that can be really irritating, I usually leave the camera on a ridiculously high ISO setting and get grainy photos in good light.

Great photo. I think. I have never seen one of these.
I keep my camera on Auto and switch to manual when needed then back to auto

Thanks. I'm amazed that I've not seen one before as it really is snow white, so when it's flying, the wings extended (but feathery), it just glows. Stunning creature.

I'll keep my eye open for another one... but I've just dug up lots of the bindweed.

Yes do. I think they are fascinating. I'm going to be over the moon when I get to capture one

all the settings jargon baffles me abit.... well alot actually!!! i just point and shoot. i think its a good photo though. i dont think i've ever seen one of these either
