Very much urban, my bird watching is limited at the present ( too little time and no transport!!). I support a large number of that exotic bird, the sparrow in my garden. When I had my roof done they couldn't understand why I didn't want them to completely seal it so the birds couldn't nest - and at 4 on a summers morning I ask the same question! I get to see the normal type of urban garden bird, nothing greatly exotic I'm afraid, although there was the silhouette of a heron on roof a while ago.

I had to replace the tiles on my porch roof just below my bedroom a couple of months ago, and inside were masses of nesting materials used by many generations of house sparrows, including a skeleton of a long - dead baby sparrow.

After clearing out the mess (one garden waste bag full) I have sealed any openings - they will manage to get in the tiniest of holes - and look forward to quieter early mornings from now on
