Tremendous captures! Are they Sand Lizards then?
I've only seen Common Lizards round here.
I've no idea what type they are, but there is no sand where they live just boggy grass.
I've got grass stains on my trouser knees now.
Nice photos, think they're common Lizards, Lacerta vivipara.
LOL - Just think of that stain as the wildlife-snappers' 'badge of honour' Lovely shots there, you're so lucky to have seen them! Just looking them up and it does look to be the Common Lizard rather than a Sand lizard - the 'sandies' seem to have more of a leopard-like patterning on the top

You saying that they are 'young' made me think of size - yours being so much bigger than this Common Lizard I saw at Bucklers Hard.
I think they must vary a bit in colour too!
Everything seems to vary in blinkin' colour, Catherine - I'm sure they do that just to fox us nature-watchers
The pic makes them look big because I got the lens very close to them. the one in pic3 was about 5 inches long.
