    Default Titchfield Haven

Spent a day at Titchfield Haven on Sunday. It's a great place at any time of year and although it was the middle July (often the worst time of year for birds) there were birds everywhere!

Birds seen included, Common Sandpiper, Med Gulls, Green Sandpiper, Dunlin, Black Tailed Godwits, Lapwings, Oystercatchers and Turnstones. There were thousands of Terns (they even seemed to outnumber the gulls!) and among the usual common terns there was 1 Sandwich Tern and 1 Unusually plumaged Roseate Tern on the Beach. The 6 Hides at the reserve are brilliant and they allow you to get great views, and photographs of the birds. At this time of year the three hides on the Eastern Side of the reserve are not worth visiting as was not a single bird there!!

Below are some photo's, all taken form the hides at the western side of the reserve. taken with my birdthday present, a new Sigma 150-500mm.

Your new birthday present has worked well, Alex!

A good variety of species at that site, and great pics of them!

As Rolf says, it looks a great place to visit.... Must find it on a map!

    Thanks Guys,

Its in Southampton and is open Wednesday-Sunday. It can get busy with birding groups though. In autumn its a very good place to see bearded tit

Yes I love the lens! Photo's aren't that sharp on here as I had to resize them!

Cracking shots Alex. I used to have that lens for my Nikon and found that pics were sharper if the zoom was backed off a touch.
