It's a rar file with a google earth location file inside Catherine, is it the rar or the KMZ file you can't open?

Eh'm, neither, Rolf! There is a red cross in a box on the left, and 'show picture' won't work.

The link itself won't open as there's not a program on my computer which can - although Microsoft asks if I want to search for a program....

Try this little utility TUGZip - The Free Archiving Utility to unzip the rar, then as long as you have google earth. the KMZ file will open.

If not, here's a link to the location on Google maps 51.378802,-1.11187 - Google Maps

Downloaded it, but it didn't work, so ditched it!

Have Google Earth, so found it easily with your other link - thanks!

Not very far from Basingstoke, you can get there via Tadley.

With the outlook for Sunday not looking too good, it is advised that everyone visits the Reading and Basingstoke Ringers website this evening to check whether the demonstration is going ahead.

I hope it's not cancelled, Rolf, unless the weather is REALLY bad. We need some pics here!

(I have another 'engagement' tomorrow so I'm sorry I can't leave the TV - It's the last F1 GP of the season.)

Oh yes of course, I should be back well before the start of the race, as the ringing finishes at 11am.

The weather looks like it may be OK, so hopefully it will still be on, looking forward to it.

Another excellent ringing demonstration from Tim and colleagues, there was a reasonably good attendance, possibly less than normal due to the threat of bad weather.

Around 60 birds were netted, species included: Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit, Marsh tit, Long-tailed tit, Great spotted Woodpecker (arrived too late for this one), Nuthatch, Chaffinch and Goldfinch.

The last four photos show the ringers releasing the birds from the mist nets, inspecting the birds and recording the data.

Here is a closeup portrait of a netted Nuthatch, you can see a couple of the other photographers reflected in the eye.
