Dont know the colour of the tail in the Bee 1 pic. Here are 3 more taken same place same time. Will that help Chocky
It's a red tailed Bumble bee. Very pretty
Excellent captures. I might add.
Well done
Very nice. .. and you got one in flight as well - I've been trying for ages! The only one I have in flight is too fuzzy to be able to spot where it is!!!
What was that you were saying about not being good at taking photos of creatures?
I have a very Heath Robinson setup for taking close ups and I am very hit and miss at it,however, the Bee pics were easy, there were hundreds of them on the tree and I had my head stuck in amongst them (the rest of as well for that matter). So if I missed one, another ploncked itself in front of me (I think they were a load of posers really) If you would like to see 2gb of close ups that didnt come out mmmm
Sounds like my volume of 'outakes' But remember this - real photographers take hundreds even when they are directing models.. so we're just being very professional!
Brilliant response hee hee
Yep they really are good captures
Here is a real close up go to the second section or page two and have a look at this one

Flipping hec digidark, I have never seen Bees this colour before........I must get out more.................not been dipping them in food colouring have you
Lovely pics, well done. Have you taken these with a macro lens?
Flippin ech, theres a good old Lancashire saying, reminds me of home.
No food colouring Babs just used Lightroom (maybe too much saturation, Im not sure)
Dont have a macro lens,I use an old
35mm to 70mm lens, extention tubes and a centon ring flash circa 1992 with a piece of white plastic pretruding from the front to fool the auto sensor into thinking it firing at 3feet (Its auto distance)when its really firing at 3cm.
I dont try to focus with the ring on the lens but preset it then rock back and forth to obtail focus. To anyone passing at that stage would assume I had devoured 3 bottles of Glenfiddick
Well you did ask

Wow all over my head I'm afraid, sounds very good and obviously works wonders for you. The reason I asked is that I would like to take some good close up shots and hubby is going to treat me to a macro lens. Just wondered what you used and yeh your quite right I did ask
Its not good Babs it was a cheap way to set everthing up for the amount of macro I do
