Default Newbie Poster - Unkown Birds

Hi there, a Newbie poster here. Thought I'd start off by showing my ignorance and asking if you can ID the attached (I hope they've attached!).

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob.

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum.

First photo looks to be a hybrid, possibly mallard based, although waterfowl are not my best subject. The second and third look like a Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler, although I'm not 100% sure, they are difficult to differentiate at the best of times, listening to their song is the best way.

Thanks, Rolf. The first one was really confusing me, and now I know why! Re the others, I'm always struggling with IDing warblers, so now don't feel so bad if you struggle as well! Thanks muchly.

Hi, Bob, and welcome to the site from me!

Your first bird may be a hybrid, but he's really handsome!

I'd go with Rolf's IDs of the other two as (a) I think he's right! and (b) it's his site, so I'm not going to argue!

I think we all find those little Warblers difficult to ID. I usually just go for one of the above - as I'd be completely lost if it were another species!

Thanks, Catherine. Certainly reassuring to know I'm not the only one who gets confused!

    Bob.
