    Default Skylark at Purley/tilehurst border

Saw this one as I was trying a new walk late this afternoon.

Tried creeping up to get closer, but it was very open and didn't manage to get too close, in the last shot he is having a nice dust bath.

You probably have but not been close enough to recognise it Beryl, they behave a little like the Whitethroats and spring up in the air over the field, hovering and bouncing in the air and singing.

This particular field was full of them, this is the audio track I recorded on my standard remembird, will go back with the big one and get a better recording later in the week.

Love the Skylark Rolf. A bird which doesn't know when to stop singing, once started they seem to go on forever. Amazing creatures in this respect......I wonder how much 'bird' energy is needed to sing like the Skylark?

I agree Pete, hoping to get a longer and better recording later in the week, just wish I had already bought the portable hide, as this spot is very exposed.

The portable hide sounds a must when you are into bird photography to the extent you are Rolf......go for it!

Well the thing is, that my sister in France wants to buy me one for Christmas in conjunction with some of my other family members, so I am on penalty of death, not to buy one in the mean time.
