Bearded Tit (Panurus biarmicus)

We visited Leighton Moss nature reserve last weekend. These little cuties were hopping around the grit trays set up for them in the reed beds so we had excellent views of them from just a few yards away. Photographed with my point & shoot camera through the eyepiece of my scope which is why the pics look a bit odd with the circular framing!.

Pretty damn good nevertheless Ross, lovely little birds, not yet seen one, a target for next year.

Wow! I never ever associated a Bearded tit with a bird table. We are planning to move to Lincolnshire soon, so I guess, with the proximity to the broads, seeing one soon, will not be out of the question.

I've never seen a Bearded Tit, though I'm told they can be seen at Keyhaven sometimes.

Ive been to Leighton Moss a couple of times and never seen them This time we were lucky - we only had to stand there for about 5 minutes until the first one appeared.

We had 5 flitting around, although the info board at the entrance said flocks of 20+ had been seen a couple of days earlier!
