    Default Long-tailed Duck

    This bird turned up in our area about a week ago now and is quite a scarcity around these areas. More unusual is that it has taken up residence on the canal and is quite an obliging individual in that you can approach it with care for photographs.

    These birds don't breed in the UK and protection for their winter sites is very important because they are vulnerable to oil pollution at sea and they are also in the amber status
