    Default Seen any black squirrels??

Researchers want the public to take part in a project to measure the UK spread of the black squirrel.

It is 100 years since the first of these appealing, but invasive, rodents was recorded in the UK.

Black and grey squirrels are the same species, so the project also aims to find out if these darker, less common squirrels carry the "grey squirrel pox" which infects the UK's red squirrels.

Not got any around here and not seen one in my travels. Shame about the demise of the Red though.

Ive only ever seen one red round here - we were driving up the A68 and it ran across the road in front of us - and stopped in the middle of my lane and sat up! I went straight over the top of him. Fortunately the wheels went either side of him and he survived....

We only have red ones over here and, sorry to say, not that many anymore
We still have 2 but as I remember we usually had at least 4 of them

Only Greys around here - but there were pockets of Reds in coniferous woodland near Ayr - Netherauchendrane estate being one site where they flourished.

There are apparently only Reds on the Isle of Wight and on Brownsea Island near us, but I haven't been either place.
