Monday was a very warm and muggy day.

told us that Ants were taking to their Nuptial flight! - Nuptial flight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Round about a bird bath, lots of Ants were suddenly appearing! The tiny workers dwarfed by the larger, winged insects.
Winged ants 2 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! (Sorry about the shake here. I took a much better one, but the telephone rang in the middle of it. Then, after the few minutes the caller spoke, the Ants had all disappeared! That's how quickly it happens!)
Below is a view of the Gulls in the sky - unusual here as I think we are 3 to 4 miles from the sea. Amongst them were Black Headed, Herring Gulls and possibly some Lesser Black Backed Gulls. The noise was deafening as they rose to catch the escaping insects in their beaks. They obviously find them a delicacy!
