there are two separate female stonechats here. they were captured this morning, in langden valley, which is part of the trough of bowland.
talk about 'sparrow-legs'. its a wonder they don't snap, they are so delicate!!
Great captures Andy, such pretty little birds as well.
Excellent captures. Lovely little birds .
By far my favourite bird Andy in particular the brilliant little 'Grenadier Guard' male. Did you count the Stonechats in the Langden Valley Andy.
Was in the Trough today myself, would have been great to have met you.
Pete.
on the walk i did there were two obvious pairs that i saw. i had gone in search of ring ouzel... but unfortunately did'nt get the slightest sniff of one. i did'nt even hear one singing. the first year that i have'nt seen one in the langden valley.
i nearly stood on a red grouse ,sat just at the side of the path. they don't half make you jump when the fly up!!!.
also two garden warblers together near the 'water house' at beginning of trail.
only ever seen lone individuals before.
young birds all over. only a few feet from both curlew and oystercatcher chicks.(whilst in my car on way up) superb!!
