Had to do a job in Hungerford, so stopped off at the river on the edge of the town.
First spot was a family of Coots, unfortunately the chicks were on the far side of the river and I only had the 150mm lens with me..gif "Smile")
Then I spotted the Moorhens
Much less shy than the ones in France at Cernay, at least all apart from the one in the third photo, she couldn't get away quickly enough.
Then the chase was on
Another day in the life of an attractive duck.
But it was more sedate for the Mallard family,
Just a matter of negotiating the reeds.
Could have gone fishing
The Rainbow Trout here are enormous.
The Vole was set up in his nest
Just got a brief glimpse
And finally another Duck
Not sure which type this is, but could be domestic.

Thanks Chocky, the funny thing is, they were all taken within 30 yards of the bridge and road, so it just shows that you don't have to go far to look at wildlife.
No. You don't really. I take a five minute walk to the local park just around the corner (really) and there is a brook to the left ,runs right through also a pond with a relief to the brook (herons favorite spot) and at the end of the park ids a small wooded area with nearly every bird you can imagine.
I just like a change of scenery.
That odd duck looks like a hibrid mallard. You can always tell a mallard by it;'s curls under it's tail. There are quite a few aasorte hibrids at Dawlish Devon
Most ducks are from the mallard,(he gets around) The muscovy and the Tufted are a two other seperate species from the mallard
