They are certainly interesting - though a bit OTT for me - and lacking the style of those of the pre-war years in America.

I prefer this one - the Auburn 851, now at Beaulieu - the National Motor Museum - near us. Once owned by Marlene Dietrich (or so the story goes), it IS American, yet exudes so much of the style of that Art Deco era.

But then, I'd even by-pass that and go for an old Rolls Royce any day!

I'm with you, Catherine - the slightly older cars were more curvy - these are a little too pointy. Having said that, I don't dislike them, and would certainly prefer them to some of the bland cars we have today... I just can't tell one from another anymore

I think you may have mentioned that photographer's models before, Louise, but it's well worth bring to our attention again. They are great!

Reasons I don't get excited about the 'pointy' ones are;
1. They are designed to appear aerodynamic, yet probably have all the aerodynamic effects of a brick - and guzzle up twice as much fuel as our own cars over here!
2. Those extravagant 'folds' in the metal can only collect rust, etc.
3. I'd probably enjoy washing and polishing the second car as it has some lovely curves - and even reminds me of my dearly beloved Triumph Herald - stretched version, mind you! However, I'd hate to try to keep most of the others looking clean. Imagine cleaning between the folds of the first one in the bottom row!

Mind you, they DO exude memories of the 50s and 60s, when Americans were fun!
