Had a home day today.

Weather was not good, so did some paper work and set up my new test equipment.

Managed a couple of shots out of the upstairs window though, the weather was not ideal for using a long lens. A Chaffinch, Blue tit, Long-tailed Tit and a picture of the Mahonia flowering. :

I spent most of the day at home , dreadful weather and tomorrow I have to be her to see a package off for my son and wait for the garage door to be fixed , for my son and I expect it will be bright sunshine. Nothing but traffic from my window

Excellent pics rolf and the Mahonia is looking good, I had a flock of long-tails visit me today but only for a fleeting moment.

Thanks All, looks like your Mahonia is the same type as mine Babs, does it produce small grape like fruit which the birds like?

Yep sure does rolf and the blackbirds adore the blue berries

Great thanks, when I put it in bfore last winter, I wondered whether I'd bought the wrong type, as the next door neighbours, had produced loads of fruit and the Blackcaps and other birds loved them, but none have touched this one.

Wasn't cheap either, paid £60 odd pounds for it.

Wonder whether it doesn't produce fruit the first year, some plants are like that I think. We have had ours quite a few years and we have moved it once, it is a lovely tree we can't remember where we got it from though and how much we paid for it. I bought a rowan tree about two months ago and as I was waiting for the berries to appear all the leaves fell off. I now have a very very sad leafless rowan tree and it cost me £40 + £5 delivery

The Mahonia is getting established now, so hoping it will have a growth spurt this coming twelve months, our jasmine tree is dying and we nee a quick replacement for bird cover as well.

up each side of the garden we have a lot of different types of conifers mainly large and some medium size, that's why we probably gets the crests visiting. One conifer died but we left it in and you'd be suprised at the amount of birds which love going up and down it. The wren loves it.
