I've had my best results with Gulls when it's been windy, as they very often head into the wind and remain almost motionless, I know, it's cheating a bit.

LOL - I'd done something like that with Coots and Moorhens - they never keep still, but when they are swimming against the stream it's SO much easier to get a clearer shot
